Irene Rehman started sewing at the age of nine making clothes for her baby dolls. As the years passed, she began making most all of her own clothes, including bridesmaid gowns for her wedding. In her senior year of high school, she won an award for a dress she entered in a sewing contest.

Irene is a graduate of Penn Commercial College with a degree in Business Administration. Throughout the years, she has taken several self-enrichment courses, including those in the sewing field, and one in the art of making flags. Putting her sewing skills to use, she started making flags to decorate the outside of her house and yard. She made flags as gifts for family and friends, and they began asking for more! From their encouragement, she began selling them. Thus, in 1998, Irene became a Professional Crafter and Rehman Custom Flags was established.
The studio is located in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania in Washington. Entering her hand sewn flags in the Washington County Fair since 1996, Irene has been a blue ribbon winner for ten consecutive years. Her sewing skills have landed her the honor of being the first flag supplier for the international Red Hat Society.
Irene tremendously enjoys designing new flags for her customers. It all begins from a sketch, picture, or pattern, and selection of fabric colors. The fabric is cut out, pinned, and sewn using the applique' technique, each one with a special touch as if making it for herself. Irene says, "Every flag is an excitement in itself seeing the creation become a reality from each stage until final completion."
A flag can be designed for you by Irene exclusively for any holiday, birthday, graduation, anniversary, or whatever the customer desires. Her specialty is the Monogram flag, of which the customers have an enjoyable experience choosing their design from a variety of colors and style choices.
Irene is delighted to have been included as a feature article in the July/August 2006 issue of Country Woman magazine. She was asked by the editors to design a garden size flag for their readers with instructions on how to make the flag.
Listening to music while sewing flags, doing needlepoint, and silk ribbon embroidery is most enjoyable to Irene. She is a former church secretary and takes great pleasure in chocolates, collecting music boxes, chocolates, Bible study, tea parties, and of course........................ more chocolates!
Irene is always available to answer any questions or comments you may have, including objective criticism; because she believes your comments will always be helpful in creating a better product.
